UK supports the Assembly of Kosovo Property Agency (13/10/2009)

KPA

On 12 October 2009, the British Ambassador to Kosovo, Mr Andy Sparkes, and Mr. Ahmet Shala, Minister of Economy and Finance, signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the Kosovo Property Agency, which marks the continuation of support to the people of Kosovo in resolving property disputes which arose out of the tragic circumstances of the war.

The funding of £500,000, for this project is provided by the British Government through UK's Conflict Prevention Pool and will also contribute to the resolution of commercial property disputes also arising from the 1999 conflict, which will in turn help the future of Kosovo by enabling investment, development and job-creation.

After the signing ceremony, the British Ambassador, Andy Sparkes said:
" We want people to get their homes and property back. It is fundamental to the healing of conflict and is a basic right irrespective of politics. That is why the British Government supports the Kosovo Property Agency, which I also chair. This funding will support the KPA’s and further help the people of Kosovo to build a positive future for themselves."
