Political and projects team
The political and projects team promotes bilateral political relations between the UK and Kosovo and manages the FCO's assistance programmes.
Wide range of issues
We cover a wide range of issues, such as the internal political scene and Kosovo's bilateral relations with third countries. Most of our work is currently focused on final status, standards and prospects for Euro-Atlantic integration, and institution building.
Other areas include reporting the state of the Kosovan economy, issues surrounding energy security and climate change, and work in support of upholding human and minority rights including strengthening the judiciary and rule of law.
The FCO has a range of programme funds. Each one supports the work we’re doing to deliver our various policy goals. For instance the Strategic Programme Fund promotes action on global issues in areas of strategic importance to the UK. Have a look at details of the FCO's funding programmes

Our criteria
Only projects that meet the following criteria will be considered:
Sustainability
Projects should build on local capacity in the long-term rather than providing a quick-fix. Project implementers should outline their long-term plans for the project, including for approaching other donors future funding and where appropriate adoption of the project by the local community or institutions.
Impact
Project proposals should summarise what the current situation is and need to clearly demonstrate what the benefits of the project will be and to whom.
Monitoring and evaluation
Clear statements from project implementers are required detailing plans for carrying out monitoring and evaluation, including longer-term follow-up. British Embassy staff should be able to visit each project, and where appropriate be given access to relevant bank statements and financial documents.
Media opportunities
We will expect project implementers to create media opportunities wherever possible to which British Embassy staff are invited (eg opening/closing ceremonies) and to make clear the British Embassy contribution on any written materials etc. The British Embassy encourages project implementers to build into their budget and allocation for publicising their projects (eg cost of hiring photographers).
Coordination
We expect project implementers to show that they are working in co-ordination with other implementers and not duplicating effort. In particular, where relevant, the implementer should be able to show close links with the Government of Kosovo and/ or other key actors in the area of work.
Risks
Project implementers are expected to include an understanding of the risks involved in delivering the project (eg slow implementation, running over budget, delays in the political process) and to have in place plans for mitigating against them.
